How can a modern jazz quartet still conquer the listeners' ear in 2016? The musicians from Pol Belardi's Force have their very own distinct approach. The four young up-and-coming performers are not afraid of taking advantage of their large musical background, drawing as much from classical and jazz education as from their distinctly open minds towards pop, rock, hip-hop and electronic music. The result is a fresh blend of modern improvised music, subtly expressed through Pol Belardi's original compositions, driven by strong grooves, exquisite harmonies, lyrical melodies, clever use of space, tension and release, diverse moods and a big amount of interaction and fun.
The Luxembourg-based band has released a first album in this lineup, entitled Delusions of Grandeur, on Italian label EMME Produzioni Musicali in 2014 (still under the moniker of "4S").
On 16th March 2016, Force played a special concert extended with Orchestre Extro Armonico, a 16-piece string ensemble, performing an evening full of original music in a subtle orchestral setting.
Currently playing an all-new repertoire, the band entered the studio in October 2016, focusing on the creation of their second album Creation/Evolution, to be released in spring 2017 on Double Moon/Challenge Records.
Extended with special guests Riaz Khabirpour on guitar and the versatile strings of the Kaiser Quartett, this upcoming concept album will feature Pol Belardi's musical take on the creation and evolution of an imaginary planet.
